What to Expect
Building a custom home, step by step
From the first phone call to the final walk-through, here is how a Bear Homes build works and what we will ask of you at each step.
Step 1
Start the conversation
Call us at (208) 477-1643 or send the contact form. Tell us where you are starting from: a lot you own, a community you like, a plan you have seen, or just a budget and a wish list. There is no fee and no obligation to talk it through.
Step 2
Choose where to build
We build on your lot across the Treasure Valley, and in our own community at Harvest Creek in New Plymouth. If you already own land, the same team that built Harvest Creek can build on it.
Standing inside a finished home is still the fastest way to judge a builder. Our Harvest Creek model home at 428 Autumn Blaze Street is open Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Step 3
Pick a plan, or design from scratch
Our floor plans are starting points, not stock. Start from one of them and change what you need, or work with us on a complete design-build from a blank page. Either way, we will create a plan that fits your needs, budget, style and, most importantly, your schedule.
Step 4
Settle the budget and financing
Financing is often the most intimidating part of buying a home, so we simplify it: we connect you with preferred lenders, explain mortgage options, and clarify your budget and monthly payments before anything is signed. We leverage our buying power to deliver more home for less, and we build to the budget we agree on.
Step 5
Construction
We are a fully licensed and insured company and we use only the highest quality materials on all of our projects. During the build, our experienced project managers keep you updated on progress, so you always know where your home stands.
Step 6
Walk-through and move-in
After construction is complete, we do a detailed walk-through together to make sure everything is right. And after you have settled in, our team remains available for support and questions.
Still weighing your options? Our frequently asked questions cover what a custom builder does that a general contractor does not, where we build, and how our floor plans work.
